The myth of the "plateau"
Its in times like these that I am drawn to the concepts outlined in the book, Peaks and Valleys, by Spencer Johnson. To break down the central concept to its basest level, this is what I took from it:
The decisions we make today are what effect the outcomes tomorrow
During the good times, we make decisions on what is happening to us right now, when things are really good, we never think of the bad times because when you're on top, you will always be on top. This... Continue reading ...

Gettin' Real
Gettin’ Real-Emotional Eater Workout
I will be the first to admit when things
get tough in life or I get stressed, I turn to food for comfort. It’s that one “friend”
that will never let you down. That is until you are done and realize what you
did and how guilty and worse you feel for allowing yourself to lose control.
However there now seems to be a more
powerful force in my life other then food. It’s the force and will to be
healthy and happy.
On Wednesday after already miss... Continue reading ...

There are things I can't function without, then there are
things I say I can't function without. The former is sleep, good food and
exercise, the latter is a cup of Tim Hortons coffee. I love the coffee, the smell,
the taste, but more likely I enjoy the social aspect of a cup of coffee. But
what I have noticed over the last little while is that as bad as a
double-double is for me, it's the temptation that comes along with it.
I'd love me a chocolate dipped or a walnut crunch, I might

Short Cut #2: Bring a healthy dish to share. Don't worry if the party that you're going to... Continue reading ...

Eating Habits
It's that time of year again. Coffee shops everywhere have begun
to peddle their holiday beverages. With names as enticing as peppermint,
gingerbread, pumpkin pie, and eggnog, it's no wonder that these drinks are top
sellers. However, don't be fooled. If it smells like a dessert, tastes like a
dessert and is named after a dessert…it's a dessert. It just happens to come in
a cup.
Most holiday beverages contain close to 500 calories and may contain as much as
29 grams of fat.

Stop drowning your
tuna in mayo, instead try this light recipe. Fresh carrot, tomato and lettuce
combined with a touch of red wine vinegar, give this tuna pocket a burst of

Eating Habits
Hey, Ryan here, Have you ever wondered why you can't say no to the donuts, muffins, chips and fries that surround you everyday? If you have then you will want to read this best seller, The End of Overeating, by David A. Kessler. And i bet you're asking yourself- do I really need to read yet another book on weight loss? Well, if it's called The End of Overeating, by Dr. Kessler then the answer is yes- this book is both his diagnosis of the problem and his prescription for its treatment. I read...
